The Canby Historical Society preserves our rich heritage and inspires an appreciation and understanding of Canby area history.

Greetings everyone and welcome to our Website! CHS and our volunteers have been very busy the last six months, and the next six months will be no different. Thanks to our Exhibits, Collections and Photo Archives Committees, we have new and interesting displays and collections at our Depot Museum. Our Oral Histories project continues in full swing, bringing you interviews with long-time and well-known citizens via Canby's local Channel 5, with our own volunteers working the cameras, and orchestrated by OCTS Director, Mike Maze. Our Fund-raising and Promotional Committees, along with many other member volunteers, work tirelessly all year long bringing events and activities to our community, and these volunteers step up to the plate every time! Our Calendar Committee begins in April drafting next year's Historical Calendar, and it's always ready for distribution by Thanksgiving. These volunteers produce an interesting and attractive calendar depicting vintage photos from our own vast archive collection. Our maintenance crew keeps the Depot Museum in tip-top shape, our Finance Committee gives us the occasional reality check, our Program and Hospitality Committees bring you our Public Programs, and our Publicity Department keeps the public informed of all of the above.
You will notice there is a common theme that stands out here: Volunteerism. CHS depends on it, and these member volunteers put their time and resources into our organization every day. I hope you will consider volunteering your time as well. CHS is a worthwhile cause, we keep Canby’s history alive, promote community activism and have a lot of fun doing it! Tell us where your interest lies, we'll find a spot for you, and you will be part of a pretty special group!
